Samsung i5500 Android-Smartphone offiziell vorgestellt – Ab nächster Woche in Europa erhältlich
Immer mehr Hersteller setzten neben ihren Highend-Produkten auch auf günstigere Alternativen, die speziell für junge Leute oder als Zweit-Handy gedacht sind. Erst vor kurzem stellte HTC das Wildfire vor, dass eine günstigere Alternative zu den normalerweise teuren HTC-Androiden darstellt. In eine solche Sparte fällt auch eindeutig das i5500 „Corby Smartphone„. Nachdem schon vor einiger Zeit Infos und Bilder bekannt wurden, hat Samsung das Gerät nun offiziell vorgestellt. Ein Erscheinungsdatum ist auch gleich mit im Gepäck.
Wenn man von den Hardware-Tasten unterhalb des Displays absieht, wird das i5500 ausschließlich über einen 2.8“ kleinen QVGA Touchscreen bedient. Als Betriebssystem kommt Android 2.1 zum Einsatz. Dieses wird durch eine spezielle Benutzeroberfläche nochmals etwas verbessert. Ob es sich bei dieser um das bekannte TouchWiz handelt, bleibt unbekannt. Mich errinnert das Design aber ein wenig an das bereits bekannte UI. Für die nötige Schnelligkeit sorgt ein 600Mhz starker Prozessor. Um auch genügend Platz für Apps zu haben, enthält der Lieferumfang eine 1GB große microSD-Karte.
Weitere Leistungsmerkmale sind WiFi, Bluetooth, A-GPS sowie HSDPA. Speziell durch Letzteres muss man auch unterwegs nicht auf schnelles Internet mit bis zu 7.2 Mbps verzichten. Vor ein paar Jahren mag eine 2 Megapixel Kamera noch sehr gut gewesen sein, zum jetztigen Stand der Dinge liegt die verbaute Variante aber eher unter dem Durchschnitt.
Schon nächste Woche soll das Corby in Italien verfügbar sein. Da stellt sich natürlich die Frage, wann man es auch in Deutschland bekommt. Offiziell ist in der Richtung zwar noch nichts bekannt, das neue Samsung-Produkt lässt aber bestimmt nicht mehr lange auf sich warten.
