Sony Xperia Z3: Android N Developer Preview 3 ist da

Seit April steht die offizielle Android N Developer Preview nicht nur für Googles Nexus-Geräte bereit, sondern auch für das Sony Xperia Z3. Nun gibt es eine neue Version für das Gerät.

Wie Sony im hauseigenen Entwicklerblog verkündet, steht für das Sony Xperia Z3 (Version D6603 und D6653) ab sofort die Android N Developer Preview 3 zur Verfügung. Die neue Systemversion soll nicht nur stabiler laufen, sondern bringt auch neue Funktionen mit. Im Detail wären das:

• Multiprocess WebView – Run web content in a separate sandboxed process when you enable Multiprocess WebView. Google is looking for feedback on compatibility and performance which you can provide by filing a bug.
• Keyboard Shortcuts helper – Users can press Meta+/ to launch a screen displaying Keyboard Shortcuts that are available from the system and from the app being used.
• FrameMetrics API – Allows an app to monitor its UI rendering performance.

Die Dev Preview 3 von Android N kann manuell auf das Z3 geflasht werden – wie üblich auf eigene Gefahr. Natürlich gibt Sony auf einer Unterseite für die Preview eine Anleitung dazu raus, die sich (genau wie bei der vorherigen Preview auch bereits) wie folgt liest:

There are 2 variants of Xperia Z3 that can be flashed with Android N Developer Preview, D6603 and D6653. Here’s how to get started:

• Connect your compatible Z3 device to a computer with a USB cable.
• Xperia Companion will open automatically
• Make sure you have Xperia Companion version 1.1.24 or later. If not, download the latest version from here.
• Hold down the ALT key on your computer and click on Software repair on the home screen, then follow the guide.
• You’ll be asked to disconnect and turn off your device, then to reconnect whilst holding down the volume down key to start the software flashing.
• You can return to factory settings at any time by connecting back to Xperia Companion and following the Software repair
